Kumo is designed to protect privacy, and that principle applies to the app itself.
No data collection
Kumo does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. We have no servers and no analytics. The app works entirely on your device.
Your photos and videos
- When you pick a photo or video, it is processed *locally on your iPhone using Apple's on-device technology (Vision and Core Image).
- Your photos and videos are *never uploaded to us or any third party.
- Detection of faces and blurring/masking happen entirely offline. No internet connection is required for these features.
- When you save or share a result, it is handled by your device's standard system features (Photos, Share Sheet). Kumo does not see where you share it.
Face detection (face data)
To let you cover faces, Kumo uses Apple's on-device Vision technology to detect the position (a rectangular bounding box) of faces in the photo or video you choose. This is used only to place the blur, pixels, or sticker over those areas.
- Kumo does *not perform facial recognition or identification, and does *not create or store any biometric data or face templates.
- The detected face positions exist *only temporarily in memory during editing. They are *never stored, uploaded, or shared, and are discarded when you finish or select another item.
- No face data is transmitted to us or to any third party. All processing happens on your device; no internet connection is required.
- We do *not retain any face data. The only result kept is the edited photo or video you choose to save or share — in which the faces are already covered.
Permissions
- *Photo Library access is used only so you can pick a photo/video to edit and save the result back. Kumo does not browse or read your library beyond what you select.
Purchases
In-app purchases (e.g. Kumo Premium) are processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles the transaction and any related data according to Apple's privacy policy. Kumo does not receive your payment information.
Children
Kumo is intended to help parents protect children's privacy. The app does not collect any data from anyone, including children.
